What is a legal advocate? The Legal Advocate works with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault/abuse, and human trafficking to provide information regarding their rights throughout criminal and civil justice proceedings; referrals to legal resources; accompaniment to court; and advocacy with local resources.
What can a legal advocate help with? The Legal Advocate is able to assist with explaining the Protective/Peace Order process; filing Protective/Peace Orders, accompanying victims to court, Commissioner’s Office, and other legal appointments; accompany victims to appointments with local law enforcement; and advocate on the victim’s behalf with community resource providers.
